ChemNetEthiopia
is an acronym for "Chemical Users
Network of Ethiopia".
Every year hundreds of thousands if not millions of dollars worth of laboratory chemicals are imported into the country by academic, research and industrial establishments.
As there is very little communication among users of chemicals, it is common practice for institutions and their departments to order chemicals from far away lands when some of these may be sitting idly in a next door laboratory. This is because there
is no forum or network that keeps chemical users informed on the kinds of chemicals that are
available in the different laboratories and stores in the country.
ChemNetEthiopia is established to fill this gap. Considering how complicated and time
consuming it is to order chemicals from
abroad, this scheme,
it is hoped, may greatly facilitate the work of laboratories by a speedy exchange of chemicals within the country. ChemNetEthiopia will enable users of chemicals to know, just with the touch of the key board, whether a specific chemical is available in the country or not.
The user may then inquire whether the chemical of interest may be at his or her disposal from a local source through gift, exchange or purchase.
